Guide to races

Dark Elf has 11 races with unique characteristics - e.g. Elves, Men, Dwarves, Orcs. Races differ in number of turns per day, strength, cost and upkeep of their units and starting conditions (amount of gold and mana to start with). Every race has a special building and special spell, not available to other races. Player chooses race when registering into a league, so you can play with the same account for any race you wish and change them with each registration. Most suitable for beginners are Uruk-Hai or Ents, you can also try Dark Elves or Barbarians. Other races require some experience and are not recommended for beginners.

Here are precise parameters of races in a table

Men: Race that is equally experienced in all activities - defense, attack and magic. Does not excel in any of them, but is capable of doing anything. It can combine attack with defense easily, which is rather incomfortable for their opponents. Beginning of a new age is very hard for them, but if they are given time, they are very strong.

Barbarians: Very offensive and expansionist race. Their best defense is attack. They excel in conquering lands, but are weaker in magic and very slow in starting magic. They have the strongest attack unit. Can build a large empire, but because of lower number of turns they are not as powerful in later periods of the age as some other races.

Orcs: an evil race with many turns. They can afford to build lots of fortresses and other buildings, but their units are expensive. Average in magic. Special building Underground Tunnels allows them to send devastating attacks from interior lands.

Uruk-Hai: Uruk-Hai are distant cousins of Orcs, and offensively strongest race with easy start and high number of turns. Unfortunately, they are weak in magic. Best strategy for Uruks is to conquer quickly and continue expansion throughout the entire age. Their special building Meat Store helps when fighting Hobbits.

Necromancers: This dark race has excellent magic and powerful military. Their defensive units are cheapest of all races. Limited amount of gold to start with and the fact that defensive units are useless in attack make them very hard to play. If they survive, they can be a match for Magi in later stages.

Magi: are purely magical race, they have highest spell limit of all races. As the only race they only pay mana when recruiting soldiers of any type, which slows them down initially, but gives huge advantage in later stages. If a Mage can successfully evolve and has economical support from alliance, he can keep many enemies under pressure and decide the result of a league.

Elves: this nature-loving race is good in magic and average in military. However, they have good defense and their magical units are most universal of all races - suitable for both attacks and defense, with comparatively low upkeep. Elves can produce large amounts of mana even in bad weather thanks to their special building - Sacred Tree. This building also helps other Elves and Ents in the alliance.

Dark Elves: elven race that gave in to the evil, performing bloody rituals and ferocious in battles. It is hard to find any weakness in them, perhaps except the low number of turns. They can capture lands easily as well as become spellcasters. Dark Elf, the ruler of this world, descended from them.

Dwarves: this industrious race of miners and weaponsmiths has best defense of all races, it is hard to conquer their lands. Their unique building Mithril Mine generates lots of gold, which makes them very strong in bad weather. However, low number of turns and weak attack slow them down considerably.

Hobbits: little and industrious Hobbits have the highest number of turns per day, therefore are the economically strongest race in the game. They generate large amounts of gold and quickly fill alliance treasury. Their units are weakest, so they have to balance it by many buildings and high population (and with it high number of soldiers). They can be very useful as spellcasters in certain phases of the game.

Ents: are an old, tree-like race, that is slow, but does not require much to survive. As the only race they don't pay any upkeep to soldiers, and don't need mana to recruit any unit. Their units are very strong and they easily capture lands in the beginning, but in later stages they begin to fall behind on account of their lowest number of turns per day.
